Where does it originate from?
It has actually been around for ages. The Aztecs used Spirulina which they harvested in Mexico. It has also been a staple in the diet of the native people of Chad, Africa, where it was dried and used to make broth . Today it is sourced from around the world. There are farms in West Africa, Mexico, Myanmar, Thailand, California and even France!

Spirulina is usually made by being dried or dehydrated and the water is then extracted into a powder or pressed. You can buy it in a powder or capsule form and it can be mixed with water, added to smoothies.
